Regulatory
In an industry which rarely defends itself, let alone be proactive, it’s not surprising to find a tangled and mangled set of policies and procedures. Like backseat drivers or armchair quarterbacks, those who run government agencies believe they have the best answer to all post-acute care’s ills and are more than willing to write, perhaps well intended, but far too often misguided regulations. In their wake, lies fallen legions of nursing management and administrators. Those who don’t leave the industry in disgust are left frustrated and paranoid. One administrator summed up the problem as: “How can I comply, when the interpretations are always changing?” The answer: Take control. Define your practices. Stand firm on the ground called: Reasonable.
